Writing Folder . . .
A writing folder begins in Kindergarten and follows your child through each grade. This folder contains a systematic collection of individual writing samples representing the various writing modes.
Homework reinforces, enriches and expands upon classroom learning and helps the child develop independent work habits. Parents’ interest and appreciation will reinforce their child’s positive attitude toward the value of homework.
Homework assignments will range from 20 minutes to 60 minutes depending on the grade level. Although homework assignments are established by individual teachers, all students entering Hawthorne are required to complete a minimum of 20 minutes of homework nightly. As the children move through the grades, this requirement will increase. Kindly speak with your child’s teacher if you notice that your child is having difficulty completing assignments or taking an extended amount of time.
